Cleaning Industry Brushes

Your one stop shop for cleaning and sterilizing industries!

Gordon Brush® offers numerous brush options for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing plastic parts and containers. Our unique sterilization brush options are designed to properly sterilize, disinfect and clean various types of plastic parts and components.

The Difference Between Sterilization & Disinfection

When considering methods for sterilization procedures, it is always important to point out the differences between sterilization and disinfection. Sterilization kills all viable microorganisms, while disinfection only reduces the number of viable microorganisms. Commonly used disinfectants include alcohol, iodophors, or quaternary ammonium.

Specific Brushes Used for Cleaning Plastics

We carry a wide variety of sterilization brushes that are used to clean, sterilize and disinfect plastic products. Each brush that we carry is used for a specific plastic application. The brush that is appropriate for the application is determined by the part being cleaned and the tarnished state of the plastic.

Our metal free brushes are perfect for sterilizing, cleaning and disinfecting plastics. They also provide an ideal solution for cleaning the inside of straight and curved plastic pipes and tubes. These metal free brushes can also be used to clean valves and fittings, or any application where aggressive scrubbing is required, and where surface scratching must be avoided.

An acid or applicator brush is often used for plastics that are thin and delicate, while block brushes are often combined with a coarser bristle to sterilize and disinfect heavier plastics, that benefit from an increased amount of scrubbing.

Tooth-brush style and twisted wire valve brushes can be used for smaller plastic parts and areas such as tubes that are extremely hard to clean with standard brushes. Our hygienic/sanitary brushes are another fantastic plastic cleaning option used for disinfecting plastics. These sterilization brushes are especially good for surfaces that need to be cleaned thoroughly and sterilized.

Methods for Cleaning Plastic

There are numerous ways to properly wash, disinfect or sterilize plastics. Washing plastics with a Mild Detergent is sufficient for most general applications. Be sure to rinse with tap water, and then rinse again with distilled water. Most plastics, particularly the polyolefins (PPCO, PP, PMP, LDPE, and HDPE), have non-wetting surfaces that resist attack and are easy to clean. It is important to not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads on any plastic or strong alkaline cleaning agents with polycarbonate (PC).
